noticed these one ebay after searching for de comp plate. Cheaper than ferriday engineering but require gasket either side. Just wondering what people think.

    Shite

Stay away, if you do want a decomp I got a Ferriday engineering one cheap

They work fine, use a gasket between the plate and the block and a non-setting gasket sealant between the plate and the head (I used UNIVERSAL BLUE HYLOMAR GASKET SEALANT) make sure you line it up with a head gasket to check all the holes are present and correct as they miss one of the water jacket holes on mine.

That's because they were designed around a specific type if gasket from the British head gasket company

I know because I got him to make the first Saxo one, the quality is shite

If they missed one f the water pockets, wouldn't that point t it being a bit shitty?

Was just looking about for bits for a saxo turbo vtr project in the not so distant future. Ferriday one sounds less chew to be honest. By the time you piss about buying more gaskets ect ect not worth it plus the holes that could be missing , I think ill pass thanks for the info guys

those are made from stainless steel as well

so the heat transfer will be massively reduced in comparison an aluminium (like a ferriday) or more expensive copper etc

also with the alu one you have the added bonus that if your car does detonate it "may" just blow the decomp out instead of the pistons/rods/block..so will be an easier cheaper repair..not saying it will happen that way but it has alot greater chance then with an SS one lol

How likely is it to detonate lol

depends on the compression ratio..boost level..inlet temps etc...

and most important of all the mapping

but if you do your home work and choose a good mapper it should be fine

Am thinking along the lines of mf2 5th injector and Sig com for management,

    tbh mate..it has been done

    and "can" work well

but id really save up for some form of mappable ecu..your looking at £200 for the mf2 set up...if mapping it yourself (not reccomended but is possible if your confident and read up) youll need a wideband lambda set up..so thats another £80-£160

you can pick up second hand predator for £350-400.. then youd just need mapping

if you cant map the mf2 yourself your still gonna have to pay for mapping

mf2 is pretty crude in the way it works..and can cause fuel starvation on cylinders because its not direct port injection

it also doesnt have anything to control the ignition timing (more likely to detonate with no timing control)

and theyre generally a pain in the arse to get in and running properly without issues

the benefits of engine safety alone are worth going mappable ecu over mf2..but you also get better reliability..better fuel economy...better power as it will be fueling correct at any given rev range/boost etc etc
