Piston rings

  1. #1
After detonating a piston after going boost, I've decided to buy low comp pistons as I'm having the bottom end rebuilt, but the ones I have bought don't have the rings with them

My querie is, are there any specific piston rings you are supposed to run with forged pistons, or will standard ones be ok?

    What size are the pistons?

    Standard bore size

Gmc can get them if you know the sizes of the rings

Also, where do you guys get your standard piston rings (not for forged pistons) as I'm struggling to find anywhere for my rebuild

Ah I forgot about asking our affiliates lol, as they are the same size as standard pistons, would you know if I would get away with standard rings?

What make are the pistons? Any stamped numbers on them?

You can't put any old rings on, they have to be from the same manufacturer as they are designed to work together, infact there are two types of wossner piston rings for their low comps.

The pistons are made by lasa and I'l have a look for stamped numbers when I get home

I thought this might be the case with the rings, didn't think you could use any old rings on forged pistons

Speak to an iasa agent and give him the part numbers and he will quote you some new rings. Only way to do it. My wossner rings were coming out at around £130 when I looked last year.

Ok mate thanks for the help I didn't think it was going to turn out cheap when you said the rings have to be specific to the piston
