turbo boost pressure not a saxo

  1. #1
just wanted to know a few things about how to get turbo boost faster. the problem is I know someone who has a farm and one of the tractors only has boost at the end of the rev range. they only rev to 2200rpm and the turbo is only kicking in at 1950 - 2000 rpm. they use it for pulling heavy trailers so as soon as it hits a hill you cant keep it on boost. would it be a smaller exhaust turbine side or the air side of the turbo to get it to boost faster and longer ?

I know it has nothing to do with a saxo but any help would be appreciated

What tractor is it? Some have that huge a turbo that they have to waste gate at all. Most modern tractors are quite advanced even by car standards so some can be rather tricky to mess about with. If its a old one you can always start upping the fuel pump a bit. Really would not do it my self as they can cost the earth to fix if you get it all wrong.

    No help but,....

Turbo basics say a smaller turbo will boost faster, but less overall boost!

AXracing - hi mate the link has all the info on the engine it does have a manual pump but don't really want to mess with it as we have done it before and just get loads of black smoke from over fueling.

tontsy - no worries mate i was expecting a reply like that. most have turbos and they are more complicated than cars most of the time. and people do stupid things for insane power !! check out this the guy lives near me it is putting out over 9,000hp

if max rpm is only 2200rpm and it only spools up at 1900 then there is a big problem with it --it is not designed to be like that you have a problem
turbo is probably buggered or full of oily crap ,or intercooler is holed or full of gunk
,just strip it all dwon and look for obvious problems --it will be fairly obvious i,m sure .
maybe the waste gate stuck open a bit--have alook
