rallye inlet on a vtr

  1. #1
    Hi
Just got my hands on a rallye inlet manifold ready for the vtr but what sort of gains will I get from this until I have time to get the ph3 cam and a remap ???
  2. #2
Don't hold me to this, but iirc, the Rallye inlet will only work on a Mk1 VTR and even then, the throttle body needs modifying.
  3. #3
    only fits blacktop heads correct
and its the sensors/loom that makes it need modding for tps map sensor ect
you could modify your loom or the inlet
  4. #4
Even if its the s1 I was told that the s1 inlet would fit the mk2 vtr
  5. #5
you were told wrong simply put fella unless you have a blacktop head in your car it wont fit

Will gain abit more of a induction roar.. Maybe a pony or 2 if you're lucky.

I have just had a look at my inlet and its 00-00 so it should fit and my car is the silver top mk2 but I will let you no when its on lol

Alex its you that's wrong im afraid

Fits blacktop and 90bhp silver top, so it will fit an early mk2, does not fit 3plug 8vs, or single point injection 8vs

Edit- gains will be unoticeable but will sound much better and look much better

see im curious on this too..... i have an 03 plate silvertop 3 plug ecu and when i was looking at my head its 00-00 not 0-0-0-0 is mine 90 or 98 version

Bleedin French they make all so confusing.....
  10. #10
wont fit the 98bhp silvertop as the port spacings are 0-0-0-0 but will the earlier mk2 engines (90bhp) as they are the same as blacktop 00--00 which is the inlet port spacings as the rallye inlet

im still new to all this 8v stuff haha
thought all the mark 2s were one type of silvertop even if some had different looms
didnt realise there were 2 silvertops wtf did citroen fuck about like that for the wankers lol!
  12. #12
Beilve it or not there's a stupid amount of 8v heads for the tu 8valve engines

    It's mad
  13. #13
im gunna just stick to 16v then fuck 8v lol

time to rebuild my spare one for the vtr haha
  14. #14
If I wasn't going turbo I would have ditched the 8v a long time ago tbh
  15. #15
whats an extra few quid for a 16v to turbo though man
manis cost the same inlets use a jp4 ect you could of done it for not much more than an 8v turbo lol!
  16. #16
Mine is a 02 plate 3 plug but the inlet seems to me like it's 0.0...0.0
  17. #17
It seems that way at first

But when you break it down it's not,

Even making a new mani yourself would be about £100-150, then an engine say £100 minimum, then gotta buy new injectors, £150+, top end rebuild is gonna cost about £250-300 when you factor in the belt kit, skim, water pump, stem & cam seals and new oil filter, and the two gaskets,

Would need a new loom as well as paying someone to re plug it for my single plug Pred, so that means two looms as I'd need a single and a 3 plug

    It all adds up mate
  18. #18
no i meant at the start fella not like now i know at this point your too far to go back lol

tbh im considering bolting a rotrex on my 8v so i cant exactly talk
  19. #19
Do it mate, you'll be surprised what they can do with boost

At the start I couldn't afford vts insurance never mind vts turbo lol( I say that I just refused to pay what it was lol), was cheaper for me to build a turbo vtr, I bought the kit about 2.5 years ago once I decided I wanted to go turbo, just took a while to pull my finger out and get it all sorted, was meant to go in my green vtr lol

It was also a lot cheaper to carry on 8v rather then switch before I built it

Eg vtr engine £40, cambelt kit £40,
Vts £100, cambelt kit £100 lol
Vtr boost sized injectors, £80 new, vts £150+ new,
Just daft stuff all adds up again

    true man i guess

main thing for me now is i can get a lot of the stuff id need through work and make what i cant get lol

id still rather just finish my nana off though vtr was supposed to be cheap but a c30-74 is tempting me
  21. #21
    Be ideal track slag
  22. #22
So would I be any better off power wise if I put the early mk2 head on my car with the inlet ???
  23. #23
But but if you have a 3 plug mk2 your rallye inlet won't fit your current head lol

rallye head and j camshaft iirc is best for power using standard stuff
not too sure on valve clearance on a silvertop bottom though but iirc from a few years ago when my mate was an 8v junkie its higher compression ratio when done

allready shown how shit my 8v knowledge is though
  25. #25
I have been offered a s2 rallye head but will it fit my 3plug vtr block ???
  26. #26
so would this fit a single plug furio engine?
  27. #27
It will only fit 00-00 heads.
