:) turbo help please

   Hi guys,
   
   Right, i dont want to bore you so will keep it simple.
   
   I have used the search before people tell me lol, but can not find direct anwsers to my questions.
   
   I might sound daft but here goes lol
   
   I have most things to turbo my vts but need to know a few things before i start the build.
   
   Questuins.
   
   1, want thinkness do i need a decomp with normal head without any skimming and is it best to run it with a head gasket to?
   
   2, people talk about getting 8-10 psi or different figures, wot determins the psi and can you turn it up and down using a button or do you get the psi figure from wot you do to the engine?
   
   3, pepole talk about a water feed and reurn, wots this for amd do i need it?
   
   4, do i need to run cat turbo cams and if i do would it be better and give me a better bhp?
   
   5, I have got so far.
   
   gt25 turbo
   dp mani
   intercooler and pipework
   bigger injectors
   oil feed line
   modified sump for return.
   standalond ecu
   
   looking/need to get?:
   
   turbo cams
   dump valve
   
   please any help would be great and please let me know if i need anything else i have missed.

If you run a boost controller you can change the boost as you want, if you don't run any boost control then the boost will stay at it is when you first set it up. 3, pepole talk about a water feed and reurn, wots this for amd do i need it? If your Turbo is water cooled (Which it is) It will need a water line to cool it, this comes from your engine coolant pipe or radiator. 4, do i need to run cat turbo cams and if i do would it be better and give me a better bhp?    Thanks mate big help. Were do you connect the boost controller to and wot does it turn up and down to get different psi readings? Sorry. I know a lot about cars and engines but turbos are new to me and I am trying to learn as I will be doing it all myself. Thanks again Joe

   I run a Manual Boost Controller on my RS, that manually adjusts boost with a gate valve that you adjust from under the bonnet.
   
   The boost is the Pressure from your Turbo.
   
   If you run an electrical boost control which is a bit more technical, that is a control pad which you have in your car and that adjust the boost electrically using solenoids.
   
   I suggest you go on YouTube, there is loads of Video's which can explain what you will need to know better than I can through writing it.
   
   You'l need to learn about Waste Gates, Vacuum, internal and external waste gates, dump Valves, how Turbo's work and how to use them.

   I have been wanting to turbo a saxo vts for years but every thing to do it costs a fortune, I sold my 206 gti 180 last month and so now I have space for a vts again. Keeping my eye out as I want a white one with a good shell. Not bothers about engine as I have one I am building up to put it the car.
   
   Basicly I have been really lucky and patient, and sourced everything mainly off eBay for around 400. Still need to get a few bits including a custom map so still need to spend 1k still I bet. Lol
   But I will save a lot my doing it all myself. Carnt wait till I het it finished.

   turbo cams - use standard cams
   dump valve
   
   you will also need:
   Uprated clutch and cover
   Need to block off all the breathers on inlet as it is pressurised
   Micalore clamps for intercooler pipes
   Reducer to fit pipes to throttle body
   water pipes and reducers for water cooling turbo
   Brackets and way to fix intercooler
   Well your exhaust cope?
   Didn't see a downpipe in your list
   Does the ecu have internal map sensor?
   Boost gauge
   Oil tee for restrictor
   Oil cooler and pipework
   I'd use a oil temp gauge
   boost control - go electric
   Budget for oil, get good quality so another £50
   Anti freeze
   lower temp spark plugs
   New head bolts
   head skim
   Check valves and lap if required
   Stem seals no doubt..
   I used two 1.77 hg
   will air filter fit turbo?
   Tie wraps (essential!) Lots of!
   Various screws bolts and fixings
   Mapping

   I'd also look at fuel pump and make sure the rad is up to the job
   gaskets for turbo and downpipe etc
   gearbox oil when you fit new clutch
   vacuum hose and clips
   
   what injectors are you using?
   does your oil feed have a restrictor?
   what size intercooler pipework? do you have a reducer from turbo?
   actuator fitted to turbo?

    This is a good list of bits that you will need!
    
    If you are doing a good build I'd say get some low comp forged pistons instead of a decomp plate!

    Really depends on things like the boost you are looking to run. Many people have run over 200bhp by simply running two repair gaskets and no decomp plate at all.

    The turbo has a valve on it often called a gate that opens at a given pressure. Whatever this valve is set at is what the turbo will try to run at. Though the boost you will actually get depends on many other factors.

    Most modern turbos are water cooled. This is why they require the water feed. You can just take this off the engines water cooling system. Though i have seen people use electric pumps to feed the turbo. Both methods are fine.

    No if anything the standard cam is actually a very good cam to use. Again people have run huge power on standard cams. If you you go down the turbo system of tuning you will soon see that its actually how strong parts are, how good your cooling is and how well you can control fuelling and ignition that limits your maximum power and not the engine breathing.

    Just need to know:
    
    wot a Oil tee for restrictor is and wot it does.
    
    and i have a emerald ecu not sure if it has a internal map sensor. do i need one.
    
    Can i run a turbo with the standerd map sensor then?
    
    I have a downpipe just need a custom exhaust making when the engine is fitted.
