mk1 vtr flywheel or mk2 vtr flywheel anyone know???

also where does the power different come from beween a mk1 vtr and mk2 vtr

not sure about flywheels but i know the mk2 inlet ports on the head are better than on the mk1 heads.

I didnt think there was much in the heads on VTRs (xsi heads not withstanding), apart from the rocker setup? thought it was mostly down to map, inlet and exhaust

    inlet set up

slightly higher CR as far as im aware

    and better ecu/mapping

flywheel mass does not change power output.

Early big valve black top heads such as black top VTR, 106 1.4 XSI, AX GTI, 106 1.6 Rallye and such like are all basically the same head. There are a few small differences over the years but practically speaking there all the same valves, rockers and casting.

The early silver top heads use a combustion chamber that is missing some of the ally out of it. They also came with roller rockers and a few other variants. They tend to be the least desirable for tuning if your talking stock hatch style tuning. If your making a stock hatch your normally best with the early black top 106 or the latest saxo with the 0-0-0-0 head spacing.

If its a road car it does not really matter what one you start with as you can always change things.

Yeah the phase 3 head is higher compression, better airbox, alot larger exhaust mani and higher flow cat, better map due to 2 lamdas and more accurate readings, stock hatch as sed above is true but for road you can port and polish and open cams and open mani... So on and so on...

Get the flywheel lightened and it wont matter

Yea i know it doesn't i was thinking put new engine in sax this weekend and i have a mk1 and mk2 flywheels and if they both fit i was going to fit the lighter one...

I guess you already know that the clutch bolt spacing is different between the two..
