Will these mods work?

    Hi,

I know almost everything around engine and other performance mods was answered somewhere on forum. But I didn't find a post with all these info in one place.

So. I have a 100% stock VTR with 8v black top engine. I would buy a 120hp VTS, but ther aren't any where I live, so I will have to mod this one.

Can someone please tell me, if these mods will work OK together, and what power gains can I expect:

    - port&polish with a decent valve job
    - Newman PH3 cam
    - Panel air filter with stock airbox (any mods needed? I dont want to go for CAI kit)
    - Raceland or similar manifold, whatever I can get cheap second hand (Any recommendations?)
    - Decat and a decent exhaust
    - Remap

    Handling mods:
    - A decent suspension kit with 30 to 40mm lowering (is Spax ok?)
    - Larger torsion bar
    - Powerflex all around
    - Front top and bottom + rear strut braces
    - Anti roll bars? (recommendations welcome)
    - New brake discs, decent set of pads and braided hoses

Will these mods be OK for daily use as my 3rd, city car + an occasional track day.

Also, a question. Will I feel a difference, If i remove spare tyre and put a battery in boot?

as your talking about doing it on the cheap I would warn you against getting a cheap ported head. Over the years i have seen many terrible heads. For example many of the ones you see on ebay. Some people have got would be considered crap heads then tarted them for a quick buck. But the reality is there still scrap.

Thanks. Head will be done in a garage that has done a few 180+ hp P106s recently. So, that shouldnt be a problem.

Does anyone have a clue, what can I expect from these mods? Ive read a good chunk of saxperience, and I am convinced that its better to buy a nice, 16v engine. Am I right?

if your going to fork out that kind of money would you not just be better buying a vts?
then adding all your own "mods" to make the car how you want it?

Youll probably only see 120-130 bhp tbh mate.

Also, ditch the stock brakes and get bigger ones.

bigger torsion bars are un necissary unless your running some pretty special front suspension

Spax wouldnt be my choice up front

You cant get off the shelf rear strut braces and a 106 gti rear arb would be nice, front one can be left alone
