Exhaust keeps pulling out of hangers!

    Afternoon all

My saxo keeps pulling the exhaust out from the rear hangers when i rev it quite hard in 1st and 2nd gear. Took it to a garage and there was a bracket near the down pipe that had a crack in the weld so the exhaust was loose and making a horrible screeching noise when it rubs.

That got welded back up but i think it snapped again because the noise is back. The weld only help for about 2 days so im starting to think the engine mounts have gone? Must be the engine rocking excessivly pulling the exhaust forwards and out the hangers?

What do you guys think? Are mounts expensive and is it a massive job to lift the engine from a VTR?

    Cheers

Cheers for the replies. Ill have a look for the bits. So you guys think its the engine mounts then? The one thing that does my nut in is changing gear in 1st and 2nd makes that horrible squeaky noise and sounds like im in a knackered old wheel barrow or something

it could be your gearbox going, tbh im not sure but if you need mounts go to kamracing!

The noise stopped when that exhaust bracket got re welded so i dont think its the G/box. Hence why i think engine mounts due to the force of the engine rocking pulling and snapping welds etc.

Atleast i hope its not the box lol

dude easy way to see if its mounts is in neutral w/handbrake on pop the bonnet and rev the engine by hand can easily see if the engine is rocking lots or not. It may be the lower engine mount usually is.

As for the squeaky changes check the linkages as per also check the big long on that the gear stick attaches to and goes to the bay bushes on that sometimes go

Not a massive job at all. Just put the jack under the car to take the engines weight and change over.

They arnt that expensive... unless you get stiffer better mounts.

my first thought would be the lower engine mount as sophia_bush has mentioned.
