Is this a straight swap? ie no loom splicing etc
MK1 VTS engine into early 106 GTi

#2if you have the loom for the gti then it should all be fit up and go
vts loom will not mate a gti shell though -
#3So if I bought an early GTI I could just lump my MK1 VTS engine that I'm building with no issues?

#4yeah

#6i put a late vts motor into an early gti
51 plate 3 plug motor into an r reg single plug car
i just reused all the 106s sensors loom injectors and ecu ect on it -
#7Well I basically have a single plug 16v which I've fully stripped and am now rebuilding but I don't have a loom or ECU so am basically looking for lowish mileage VTS or GTi which I can take the engine out so I can have a decent shell with what is essentially a 0 mileage engine so I'm just looking for donor car atm

#8well then any will do even a later model and just use the looms sensors out of that
the only differences are the air pump (what people call the egr) and you wont want that anyway lol
