   I was just wondering if Comma Xtech semi synthetic 5w30 oil was suitable for my citroen saxo 1.1i

   You need about 3.5L of 10 40w oil and a new oil filter

   5w30 is more for diesel engines Kate.
   
   As said above stick to a decent (fully synthetic if possible) 5w-40 or 10w-40.

   Thank you very much for your replies. What is the difference between 5w40 and 10w40 and synthetic and anti synthetic? Which would be the best for my Saxo would you suggest? Also i have been putting the 5w30 in my car :s silly me, would this damage it in any way? Would i need a complete oil filter change?

   I doubt anything serious would have happened - you'd know about it by now if it had!
   
   Using a '30' grade as opposed to '40' means the oil is thinner, it flows well, but you have a smaller film over the engine components, thus increased wear. Ideally get back on to a 40 grade as soon as you can. Best use an engine flush as well
   
   5w40 and 10w40... the difference is the 'W' which refers to the viscosity/thickness of the oil at cold temperature. 5w is thinner than 10w... which means its quicker at cold temps so gets to the components much faster. I've always gone for a 5w
   
   Whenever you change the oil you should always replace the filter as well.

   Thank you for this information Barry! I will make sure i get back onto a 40 grade asap. Do you know how much roughly an engine flush costs? Sorry i am quite inexperienced as you can probably tell haha.

   Engine flush isn't that expensive. About £10 - 20, depends where you go and who you know. Avoid Halfrauds autocentres like the plague though.
