Aircon

Anyone got any links to Air con conversions?

I Remember reading about someone doing it ages ago, and the 8v lads at least should have done it

As can rob all the gear off the 206...

Might not be what you're looking for, as it will stick out like a sore thumb, i dont even know if it will be any good! but have you looked into something like this?
    http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/U...g_Unit_AIRCON2

That link could be okay if you had a way of making a mold for it on the dash somewhere or something.

IIRC i read somewhere about someone using the whole system off of a 306 with some 206 parts too. I'll see if i can find a link but i doubt it.

Why would you want the biggest power robbing addition to a car added?

    thats what windows are for

i dont mate..just wanted a read up on it

seems very daft that ppl havent done it seeing as though the cars can accomodate it..and its basically a bolt on job for the 8v lads

Iirc some European 106's and saxos came with aircon as an option. You can adapt that but (again from memory) you'll need to lose your glovebox. And I think the wiper motor is in the way.

Yeah a lt of the euro models did have it and people have been doing the conversion whenever they can. The hard part is finding a euro model with the aircon units in good enough condition for re-sale. Then getting over the language barrier. Then shipping it.

Yeah..I think all of their vts's had it..as europe had the 1.4 vts, 1.6 vts etc...i think over there the vts name just means the top of the range, because i know there's 1.4 and 1.4vts (with all extras) (both 8v) and the vts 1.6 (our vts too).

Also, wouldn't spacing be an issue? the saxo bay isn't exactly left with a lot of space on certain models and iirc the compressors aren't tiny. Plus the radiator for the aircon and all the routing/piping too.

if you rob the dealer parts bin..can be done quite easy

rads etc can be fitted anywhere..if you can fit intercoolers and oil coolers and so on..its quite easy

i was wondering this the other day as i bought a 206 engine as my furio one blew up and it was out of 2007 so lower mileage.

when i was changing bits over i noticed the 206 has the a/c pump where the saxo's alternator goes and the alternator on the rear of the block. the pump isnt that big at all. still got it with brackets and bolts if anyone wants it ?
