If you've the funds and can find a place selling it, "curil t" is the ultimate frankly. Used by several engine builders I know, including my own.

I've used Loctite 5910 for rocker covers and sumps since my old engine building days.

Oil resistant, deals fine with heat, easy to get hold of and cheap enough.

    Halfords stock it.

By far the best way is to file off the lugs on the 16v covers that hold it up which means you need a thick bead -and all rtv,s take time harden all the way through -up to 48hrs some of them

If you file the lugs off then you only need a very thin layer --

I couldn't find it for love nor money mate. Honest! Got it from a poky place online eventually. Can't remember where but deffo took like 6+ weeks to arrive (enough to make me actually forget i'd actually ordered any!)

Speaking of which, need to go collect the mig welder I paid for 6 weeks ago... Dammit.
