mega gear stick play??!

Ok so its been bad since i got the car but just the other day i realized that in 4Th you can wobble the stick just the same as its in neutral.
    id doesn't grind at all
although in 2nd there's aloud vibrating noise when your coming to a stop (from the gear stick)

is it a big problem? or just relay loose linkages?

also is it expensive to put right??

    thanks, Dave

give the linkages a check mate but if theyve not been replaced the 10+year old bushes on the linkages have probably worn

best thing to do then is get a set of constella/kam group n linkages as they tighten it all up alot.
but even with those there will still be play as the bush in the bottom of the gear stick will be worn. so will the big rubber ball on the pivot bar thing. aswell as the pin that hold on the selector arm on the box haha

there is a good guide on here ill link you to in a sec that explains it all

Yeah mate just get your hands on it all and give it all a wiggle to see if there's a lot of exess play but like you said if its booked in it won't take the mech one minute to get under it and give it all a wiggle

Get under the car and wiggle it with your hand, you should be able to see the problem as there are only a few bits which make up the linkage system.

My guess would be a linkage or the control arm which is attached to the gearbox using a roll pin.

I had the same problem, I got a set of linkages from a scrappy for 30 quid and garaged put them on for a tenner. Gears are a lot tighter now!
