    Depends what cams you ordered...
  3. #3
Im pretty sure its advisable to yeah but the cost goes up massively because its head off then... New head gasket, bolts and top end gaskets...
  4. #4
well which would see better gains the newman ph4 tarmac ones or the catcam 1321743's?? i can change the order tomorrow
  5. #5
743's you can use on standerd head and internals, i would advice changeing the cam seals though.

i will be going down he route of a turbo next summer
  7. #7
    Then don't cam it then.

PH4's require modified pistons. 743's do not.

Standard cams are find for up to 300hp on a boosted lump.

catcams... 743's? 705's? or 708's? which ones should i get as i dont want internal work needing i want to be able to run standard pullys and inlet...
  13. #13
708's or PH3's are the limit pretty much on standard internals. It's not the inlet and pulleys you need to think about, it's the pistons. 708's have 10mm of lift. 743's are an updated version of the 708 (also with 10mm of lift) so are also fine.

734's are more agressive with 10.9mm lift and also require different springs.

You will not maximise the cams without a remap whichever cams you choose however.

    what about the 705's?

705's are longer duration but shorter lift than the 708/743. I don't know anyone running them in a saxo tbh (although I'm sure some do), so may be better speaking to a catcam dealer (like KAM Racing here) for specific advice.

I don't think they will require a remap looking at their specs.

People claim up to 155bhp but your more looking at the 145bhp range from what i read, i got the 743's but not been remapped yet also running standerd timing marks can run lumpy and will cut out once in a while.

I think mine has uprated valves and springs because it was cammed before i bought it, i have a dyno the way it is now at 131.4bhp
