Looks like the eBay cheat shite, considering you need solid piping towards your throttle body, i'd avoid.

As above, you can get those exact type from ebay for about £30. Also I'd wager than isnt CF just plastic imitation, it certainly looks it

Can't find the thread.. But recently a member on here back to back dyno'd his VTS with and without a BMC..

Made 14bhp MORE WITHOUT the bmc.

If that's not enough to put you off spending £100+ for -14bhp I don't know what will.

    it was lea's gti.

it's been pointed out many times before that BMC's aren't the best out there, especially considering the price tag

hmm, well thanks for the heads up ill avoid it, iv seen the -14bhp bmc post too, what are some other good filters for around the £70 mark, ideally enclosed to avoid heat soak.

At that price second hand, I'd look for a racland.

Companies will design an induction kit for a standard car. In the VTS's case this is a 130bhp engine. BMC supply an air filter that will flow plenty of air for this engine.

The issue with the BMC is the need for a decent air feed to the filter. A poor location will hamper the car. The aluminium tubing supplied is rubbish and personally I would ditch this in favour of something better.

Back to the BHP though. Slap a cat cams 1321743 and the cars are producing 145-150bhp. Add a good manifold and exhaust system and you get 6 or so bhp more. This is a massive increase in performance over standard and really you might have to start thinking about the whole engine package rather than bolting parts on. BMC do bigger filters and an oversized one could very easily be fitted with a different silicon bend.

personally, i would just put the standard airbox back on with a K&N panel, then put an air feed pipe in where the swirl pop is. (or whatever you call the little tub on VTR air box that silences the induction noise)
