Identify These Cams

Finally got around to removing the J4 covers for JP4 covers instead yesterday. Also wanted to identify what cams have been used. Thought there would be more markings on them, anyway, managed to get these photos while the covers were off.

look standard to me tbh. Can you crank the engine over by hand and photo the other sides of the cams?

No not tried turning it over.

Standard? Would explain why it doesnt feel much quicker than my old one. Was supposedly some wild cam where they had to pocket the pistons. Even said in the advert 'high lift Cat Cams' so was expecting 708s.

When i go back outside later Ill check the head on my old one, see if the markings match.

    standard

normally you'll see "sportcam" or somesuch on them, that's why it might be on the other side.

If you can get access to a borescope worth sticking that down a plughole to check the piston crowns too maybe if these do turn out to be standard.

Sorry to be negative - I hope I'm wrong for you!

    Me too Ross!

If they are, I still have some brand new 708s and vernier pulleys to go on

    Edit:

Those new 708s only have 'CAT' on them, have a smooth surface

The ones in my old engine have 'P9' and '27' on the exhaust cam, also a rough surface like in the picture in the first post, would assume then it is a standard cam. Idle is smooth too (well except for the solid engine mounts ) so kind of all makes sense now.

I'd still go back and get some ££ back mate,

    Mis-leading info on advert

They don't look like standard cams to me. They look like my 708's (might not actually be 708's but they look identical apart from mine had CAT stamped on them like above.)

Look at these two pictures i have, taken when i was fitting my 708's.
If you look at the first picture the standard cams are longer (look gearbox side) and don't have the hexagonal part (pulley end)
The second picture is when i was putting the 708's in.

He did say that GMC supplied them but in the advert it says Cat Cams
