im wanting to cam my vtr but toatlly new to cams im looking to buy some cams that are decent for a road setup daily use ect.. But i want cams that need a map. run lumpy on idol you no the drill basically the best ones that gain the most performance for my car with a map or without a map my vtr is the 90bhp Phase 1 1998. Cams that run smooth without a map ive heard you cant really gain alot well not as much as ones that run lumpy and need a map dont quote on that. My setup im looking for is 421 mani decent exhaust system s1 inlet cams.and map for a road setup with decent ish gains. im going to bid on these cams on ebay but will the be any good with my setup as above what im looking for thanks guys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAT-CAMS-R...item43b39cbcc2

#2You're probably aware, but from the sounds of your post I'm not sure, you know that your VTR is single cam, so you don't have 2 separate camshafts for operating inlet and exhaust valves?

#10[quote=burgin2011;6098126]I didnt notice that it says for rally/race.Quote:They look correct to me, Havent read through it properly though, im at work.

I dont think this will will work without a proper map, or even an after market ECU. Also, Race / Rally cams generally need head work and a proper intake (IE bodies or carbs).
I wouldnt consider a cam like this until you've done other work, I would also get a proper exhaust with a manifold / sports cat or decat before you get any form of after market cam in there.
You do need to get the breathing mods out of the way first before you do start to play with any bits inside the engine, as you just wont get the full benefit from them.
Hope this helps. -
#11Cheers for that mate saved me a bit of cash hehe now i no what to do first just gonna buy a decent mani and exhaust 1st +1

#12[quote=jasonmayall;6098896]You'll more likely need pocketed pistons if its a particularly high lift cam. What spec is this cam featured as I cant see ebay from here?Quote:
