Exhaust help?!

I replaced my backbox with a cheap used one found on ebay, I believe its an Ashley. As soon as i drove the car i decided it's FAAAR too loud and i hate it so it is getting replaced asap. The problem i've got is that i cant get it to sit properly in the recess in the bumper, i've tried different length hangers (in many combinations) and angling the join to centre pipe but it always ends up about an inch from where it should be. Any ideas!?!? It may also be that the backbox was not what i was told it was.

    Cheers,
    Mike

all backboxes sit differently depending on the brand, the only way to correct it is to move the hangers

As in cut off and reweld the hangers?

it depends how far out they are, if only a bit you could heat them and bend to the correct position

This seems a little less extreme as i might end up having to move them back when it gets replaced, which is hopefully soon. It makes such a horrible noise!

If its a cheapo box it might not line up without some serious rebending of the hangers.
If its too loud seriously consider selling it on and buying a Piper Backbox. These are excellent quality and a good cylinder size

Cable ties are great to have any length you want off the hangers

I had to make a trip down the M1 yesterday and couldn't face the noise so i grabbed a slightly less rotten OE box from the scrappy. And i'm guessing thats not going to last long either.

Until you boot it and the ties slide off the mounts.

    Get propper rubber mounts.
