hi looking to buy a good strong fast road clutch for a 130bhp saxo vtr 2000+ 200mm type that dosnt cost a fortune.
not needing a paddle clutch or anything too hefty as its not mad power just want a decent strong affordable clutch

    cheers

standard should suffice, valeo luk or sachs etc, same as the higher powered as std 16v uses so must be allright

its torque that kills them, and abuse, don't abuse it it'll be fine.

its a hillclimb/sprint car so it gets some abuse

they will go on there, there quite popular, so what have you done on your vtr engine and what gearbox you using?
  19. #19
just a late vtr engine with the earlier stronger head springs, 421 mani and niceexhaust, nice induction kit, cat cams, remapped and rev limit lifted.
at the moment my old 1.1 box but ive just bought a s1 rally box with a quaife LSD

very nice too, thats made good bhp then, and s1 box is so awsome on a vtr engine

In that case std clutch will not last that long due to type of usage -fit upgraded paddle plate type unit
the standing starts will not be good for std organic type unit

the paddle clutches are either too harsh or way to exspensive :/

    Standard Valeo kit!

not when they outlast a standard one a couple of times.

the thread started by asking for a"road clutch" --but now you say its for sprinting+ hill climbing ,both of which require drag racing type starts -probably 3 practise + 3 timed runs per event --that's not road use fast or otherwise
thats abusive use ,which is why you need a paddle type plate --
a paddle plate with a sprung center is not that harsh --providing the flywheel does not have distortion or "blue spots" in the face .
its the blue (high spots) which cuase the judder and harseness .
If fitting a paddle plate then a reface of flywheel is the right way as an organic plate by its nature will wear the flywheel unevenly because its more flexible .
a paddle plate is not flexible in any way, so uneven suraface on flywheel or cover will make it grab
you also should not hold the car on a hill with a paddle clutch as the heat will build up very quickly
If you o not want a paddle clutch then you must go for bigger capacity organic unit to handle the abuse better
c2vts has EXACTLY same clutch as a saxo vts --but the life is about half that of a saxo
reason-- the car is heavier and operation is hydraulic ,so people ride the clutch more becasue the pedal load is so light .

its got a standard clutch on it now which i dont have any major faults with but im replacing the gearbox so it makes sense to do the clutch aswell.
i was just going to go for a uprated fast road organic clutch as its got to be better than what i have.
and there about half the price of a paddle clutch which i think will be abit to snappy if that makes sense
