Adding a 2nd fuel filter

  1. #1
    Hi all

I am driving a Mk3 Citroen Saxo 1.1 desire 2003 through North West Africa and am a bit concerned about the bad quality of fuel I have to use in some of the poorer countries.

I already have a spare fuel filter that I will replace half way through the trip but I was considering adding another one of these throw away inline fuel filters where I can see the actual filter element

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETROL-IN-...item2574b6041a

Is this worth doing and if so where is the best place to add it

    cheers

I would add it inline, before the current filter. Make sure the pipe size does not restrict flow as the added pressure loss will be putting more stress onto the fuel pump.

So would that be before the standard filter coming from the tank or after it heading to the engine?

these filters are not designed for injection cars with high fuel pressure.
I would suggest carrying 2 spare filters .although i doubt the fuel iwll be that bad - how would locals go anywhere if it blocked filters in 1000miles--the filtration on the filter shown is not as fine as the std filter unit anyway

also to add on to axsaxoman post if you add an additional filter you'll increase the fuel pressure loss in the fuel lines and put more stress on the fuel pump as it'll have to work harder to compensate the pressure loss

Thats what I was worried about, the pressure. I think i might just get another spare and swap them over twice.
