Key stuck in ignition

  1. #1
    Hi
I have an S reg Saxo 1.1 . The key was stuck in the ignition however we have managed to get the key out but the engine has continued to run. We have had to disconnect the battery to turn the car off.
Any ideas what the problem is and how much its gonna cost to fix.

    Thanks
    Claire

We haven't tried to reconnect the battery yet. We are going to try and connect it again in the morning.

Spray some lock cleaner in the barrel and try getting the key in and out a few times begone you go looking for a new barrel

As you'll need to lose your immob if you change barerls

Mine did this at the same time that the heater and rear screen stopped working. I had to fit a new barrel.

Ai when they jam it's normally game over tbh lol

Less you got a pick set to lube it up and fanny on trying to unstick which ever pin is locked lol

Cant beat a lubed up fanny.

To the op. Go to citroen with your logbook and driving licence and they will make you a lock for the key you have. unless you don't want to pay the £25 then you can go to a scrappies and get a new lock that wont match any keys you have and you might need to unlock your ecu to start the car too.,

Just keep it going and make sure you keep topping it up with petrol.

you dont need to lose the immobiliser if you change the barrel or unlock the ecu, just swap the chip in the old key to the new key

my ignition barrel went on my old s reg vtr and the heaters and rear screen went at the same time, the key never got stuck but the car would not start, there used to be a guide on how to fix the problem, im sure with mine it was something to do with the electrics or contacts, cant remember. right fook on as i had to get a full lock set at the time and have my key recoded. i am sure the guide involves a by pass of some wiring or something like that, but i never did that. i only got the full lock set to save me having to have a few keys on the old key ring lol, extreme but kept me happy.
