  2. #2

    +1

done all the above now looking at turbos lol never have enough power

Its not just the extra bhp the VTS provides, its how it provides the extra power through the rev range.

A 120bhp VTR will not feel the same as driving a VTS, it just won't.

My mate did it with his. Iirc he bought an intake, Devil manifold, Scorpion exhaust, piper cam, remap, gmc freepowr, vts gearbox. With all that time and effort it was keeping up with a near standard vts.
  9. #9
Panel filter, exhaust system, omex 600
  10. #10
Full exhaust, straight through, exhaust manifold, induction kit.
  11. #11
Rallye head and J cam if its an early-ish vtr, and a decent gearbox + breathing mods. Also remove some weight
  12. #12
Why would you want to spend that kind of money on an inferior engine though? If you have the know how to fit cams yourself then its safe to say you could manage fitting a vts engine and if you don't have the knowhow but you have the money for all this then buy the engine and pay someone to fit it you could buy one and have it fitted for 500 or so and camms alone cost that give or take???
  13. #13
fitting a cam to vtr isn't going to be that much. With what I suggested the head might set you back £150 at the very most, then you need new gasket and bolts plus a reface of the head if you want to do it properly. £250 max really
  14. #14
VTS engine conversion. Cheapest and easiest way imo
  15. #15
It costs at most £300 for a vts conversion, can be done for even less if your lucky then spend rest of money on that and it will be even faster
  16. #16
300 presuming he can do it himself I'm guessing? Engine box and loom would cost that?
  17. #17
i'd be able to swap the engine peice of piss , its just what to do with the ecu and what to do with the loom , its fair enough saying change loom but where does it plug in to what cables to remove and were ect... also my car has a aftermarket immobiliser with a button on my keys which i press to activate the alarm and immobiliser what would i do with that , mechanical wise pretty simple ish , but when electrics and all them gizmos come in the god only knows ,

Everything you have listed as options I had in my shed, Rallye head with some port work done j cam exhaust intake etc etc and the end result would have been turbo, personally I live 2valve per cylinder for turbo applications, and would have gone down that route if I hadn't decided I wanted NA end result 16v cammed head work ( a lot ) exhaust throttle bodies stand alone weight loss suspension mods brake mods the works too much money spent but damn she's gonna be fun to play with.
Point I'm making I guess is if your prepared to spend don't waste so much money on NA applications on an 8V start with the base for it for the same money on a 16V
As for electronics, the solutions will be out there if you buy a matching year ecu type engine and get the loom.
Either way by the sound of it you have the skills to do the job an which ever way you go I'm sure you'll have fun

what performance will i gain with a rallye head ?
  20. #20
As long as you get the engine, loom, ecu, key, imobiliser box all from a car with the same engine multiplug its a straight swap, easy as! All can be picked up for less than £300 or a little more if you want lower milage etc

what about this guys ? without the loom and ecu ? just change the head and throttle body ? would this be about as good as a cam ?
  22. #22
in what respect do you mean just the head?
  23. #23
sorry forgot to post what i mean lol , http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S1-Rallye-...d7d5202&_uhb=1

what will that be like ? or what will it be like with just the head ? will it be like the same as camming a vtr extra bhp wise
  24. #24
    bump???
  25. #25
Yes will offer gains, not many people run the 1.3 ecu so I dont have much knowledge of how it'd run a 1.6. Though wiring in a 1600 s2 unit would be better imo - higher rev limit same as the 1.3
  26. #26
Gandi699 you seem to be a master on rallye's , what would i benefit more from a rallye head , or a ph3 power wise ?
  27. #27
the loom and ecu is the easy part to a vts conversion, looms are piss easy once the loom is wrapped around the engine its pretty straight forward to know where it all plugs in to and ecu wise as long as youve got an unlocked ecu and you unplug you immobiliser jobs a goodun

literally took me 5-10 min to take the loom off my car a little longer to fit it as its a bit fiddly putting the connectors on the starter motor

ive been thinking about it im just gonna do vts conversion im going to pick my engine and loom and also unlocked ecu up next week , and for a bonus the guy says its got ajustable pulleys on so he thinks its been cammed , ive got it all for £290 , also peeps ive got a aftermarket alarm and keypad and immobiliser so you can only immobilise the car so you can start it with the keypad , what would i do about this ?
