noob advice for vtr - vts conversion :)

hey again every1. right first off i will state i have no idea about any of this and no i wont be doing it myself - gona get a local garage that builds track cars to do the conversion.

i have a good condition mk2 vtr and wanted 2 drop a mildly tuned vts engine and gearbox in it for a bit extra power.

basic question is does any1 have a checklist of the parts i will need?

the garage have said if i can get all the doner parts in they'd fit it for around 300 quid but ive gota get the right bits sorted

Engine with inlet set up, exhaust manifold, flywheel, clutch, gearbox

Think you need a vts alternator set up

    Engine loom and ecu

    VTS fuel return pipe

    VTS radiator

    This pretty much covers it.

Don't need to change the rad though. My 16v engine on 8v cooling set up run's colder than the 8v did.

Yeah no worries. I'm a smiley fellow anyway

Just remember running a ''cold'' engine isn't always a good thing. Want it running around 90 degrees at all times for best efficiency

so if i got a vts doner car and took them bits off it should slot in without a hitch really?

You dont need alternator set up either 8v set up ftw

thanks for the advice so far so what about say a xsara vts engine? aint that a 2.0 litre? is that fittable?

Might struggle to put that in. Same engine as the 306 gti6 iirc. (not saying you cant, i ust havent seen any put it on on here).

as harry said... though the clutch is interchangeable, so you dont have to get one and you dont NEED a gearbox, the VTS box has optimised ratios as the 16v engine will rev slightly higher.
its a pretty straight forward swap!
