Hard to get into reverse

   my 1.1 desire has a lot of play in the gear stick, and when i want to get into reverse the gear stick doesnt always go across all the way so i can go down into reverse, doesnt do it everytime, but does it a lot, whats up with it?

   First thing I would do is go through this guide:

   That should help remove the play in the gearstick. If you still have problems after that it's likely there is something wrong inside the box.

   Mine does this sometimes to, sometimes it works if I put it back in first and then reverse again, or let the car roll a bit helps too

   when i try putting it in reverse sometimes it doesnt go fully in. Just very slowly bring the clutch up a fraction and it goes in! Been like that for 3 years!

   My old vtr did this after i had a front exhaust pipe fitted. The bracket what holds it on the gearbox was touching so couldnt get it in at all sometimes. Might be worth a look.

   The issue with lifting the clutch to get it into reverse is common with most cars the guide above that mentions linkages though prices are off you can get a full kit for about 20 quid now and reasonably easy to fit I'm replacing mine now as my gearbox is off
