Anyone know if it's normal for a Weber Inline Fuel Pump to get red hot after about a minute of running?
Is It Normal For An Inlive Fuel Pump To Get Hot?

#2red hot? Lol, think about it.
-
#3That's what I mean lol, I expected it to maybe get warm, but dude it get about as hot as a fresh mug of tea... =/
-
#4Thats not red hot is it
-
#6I think you'll probably be alright, after all a lit cigarette isn't enough to set petrol alight
-
#7True, wasn't sure if the pump was working too hard or something lol.
It's very noisy lol -
#8have you got it piped up right?
-
#9I used to have a Facet pump, but that only seemed to get warm, never approaching hot I dont think.
-
#10Yeah, it's only on the BMW, the in tank pump packed up while we were drifting, so we used the pump I had for my saxo build, We took the feed pipe from the intank pump, and put the inline one in the middle, so the new one sucks the fuel up through the intank pump, I was thinking it might cause some resistance but the Engine runs fine, just that pump gets hot and is noisy... I wasn't sure how noisy and how hot they are meant to get though?
-
#11No, it shouldn't get that hot. Sounds like there's a resistance and the pump is working too hard - probably caused by the in tank pump. Have you got the feed from the intank pump into a swirl pot (good) or direct into the external pump (bad)? I presume the latter? It's possible the intank pump is actually working as a restriction rather than helping.

#12That's what I'm thinking, as the in tank pump isn't working, thanks I'll take it out and use only the inline oneQuote:No, it shouldn't get that hot. #13the intank pump isnt working??
Then it's a HUGE restriction in the fuel line. Get it out, sharpish!
Be better upgrading just the intank pump tbh though

#14Yeah I thought as much, this was a bodge we did yesterday as we were out drifting, the pump gave up and I had that inline on in my car so we bodged that together lol.Quote:the intank pump isnt working??

I'm gona take the pump out and run a line into the tank for now
