OMEX Rev Limiter on a 1124 spi? HELP!

  1. #1
Hi all, im from the 106owners forum and cant seem to get much help.

Ive got a 1.1 spi and fitting a rev limiter on. Problem is my car is struggling to run at anystage with the system connected. Its all wired up correctly as far as I know and ive set it up on the unit as 2 cylinder etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers Jack.

What rev limit are you planning on going to?
Is the car standard? Assuming it is, You wont want to raise the limiter as you wont get any extra power and will probably blow the thing up.

A high rev limit wont make fire.

    Are you a troll?

The omex cuts the ignition, pumping fuel in still so should get some nice bangs from the 3inch pugsport .

Its more for the launch control, you can set that to about 3k and makes some prettyy awesome bangs! Just need to get the damn thing working.

Thank F**k for that lol. Actually looks quite tidy, although a tad high.

Chances of getting fire from a 1.1 are slim unless its had a LOT of work done to it.

I had a VTR back in the day, cammed, full exhaust with no silencers bar the unrestricted mini back box, head work and a remap.

Popped a lot, but it only ever popped flames when i was really, really giving it some.

Ahaaa, cheers bud, its got bilstien group n suspension, with 40 mil lowering springs and the beam is lowered, but being a 1.1 its lighter than a 16v so still sits high :/.

Ive had some pretty big bangs out of mine. When its cold, it runs rich, and makes some really nice pops. With this rev limiter though ill beable to bang when i want .

Lol, I'm still not convinced it will be easy on a 1.1 TBH, I know you've probably heard it before, but have you considered a bigger engine? lol.

Also, Assuming you dont have a cat?
  14. #14
You can have a 50cc engine, if you cut the spark with fuel still being injected in.. your going to get pops.

That's what these rev limiters do..

It will not bang on command... and the launch control is pointless... i have one on my vtr.. cant help with connecting it tho as mine is twin coil... have u defoneli got the right one for spi?

Thats what im trying to find out, as far as I know all tu engines that use an ecu are twin coil and use a wasted spark design.

That would kill your Cat if you still have one fitted.

    Has a sports cat.

pops and bangs are just unburned fuel in the exhaust. a decat will provide a better result. drill a hole in the exhaust a few inches from the end, weld a captive nut with a matching metric thread to a spark plug, doesnt really matter which, any spark plug will do.
then buy one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flamer-Kit...item4abea8da17

chav-tastic but they do work. much cheaper than a omex setup.

The launch control could help off the line if you get it setup correctly.

on a 1.1 it will still be slow...

No. On my vtr it does not make any difference on launching because it not powerful enough to need launch control to start with.

So a 1.1 will not benefit from it at all..... + a sport cat is still a cat so it would still destroy it...
Im not 100% but ive herd that the mk1 style coil is single coil.

Turbo that bad boy 1.1 and get real flames

    This is the coil itself.

Ill let you know once its working wether it makes better starts. So atm Im getting a terrible missfire with it connect. Cant find anything to try.

Bumppp, not found a solution yet. Its the same coilpack as many other models so cant understand why it isnt working.
