    Yeah whats your budget 500, 1000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000...

    Whats the use?

Can get you 150-158 outta a vtr or over 200 from a vts transplant...

Suspension... Well for top spec track 3,200 for rally 5,000...

    best setup

email sandy brown about a race spec build on your motor
march is pushing it time scale but patience is a virtue

No boost but keeping the Vtr engine - It will always be slow. Sorry. Without boost, next best will be 16v conversion and ITBs.

    Next question?

My mate had a 1600 8v engined AX and that was ridiculously quick, was running near to 170bhp. Wasnt cheap, but it was still an 8v!

170 Na in an ax would go well indeed. Why was that setup chosen? Class regs? For the money it must have cost!

Exactly the point, the money you spend getting an 8v go be quick, you could make a bigger engine go the same much cheaper. Hence "pissing in the wind"

8v is really only used for motorsport now because of certain class regs or to prove a point...

patience is something he hasn't got, read his other thread about his exhaust

Not the budget I suspect for a deep pockets sandy build.

if he wants a tpp na engine thats his option though

answered his question.as well as i could with the little info supplied

I'd have an alloy 8v engine for handling. Sometimes its not all about the maximum power.

To be honest with the VTR i'd fit a performance manifold and decatted exhaust system. With these you can gain about 15 bhp. Get a nice air filter to make the right noises and i'd probably not bother with anything else as it gets expensive.
