Decent Engine

  1. #1
    Hi,

I'm looking into buying a saxo for a project while i pass my driving test and i was wondering what engines fit in a saxo, i don't want a 1.1 i want something like a 1.8 or 2.0 a decent engine for a decent price.

    Anyone know any decent ones?
    Thanks.

    Good luck insuring it.

You will be paying out your arse for the first year on a 1.1 as it is.

Anything fits into any car, provided you have the skills, time and budget to make it happen.

    to add to this.

I hope you plan on doing a good brake & suspension setup first.

Tbf the tu s a pretty decent engine, with the brakes being shocking. But you could always fit a GTI6 engine in, probably the most common. And. Say that In very few times has it been done

Well i can afford to insure it easy enough, i make 3K a month from breeding animals.

    And thanks for your replys

the best advice to you,as money is not a critical problem ,is to buy the best unadulterated vts or pug 106 gti you can as a starting point -02/03
take yuor time to find the right one .
bodywork ,interior +running gear(rear axle) are whats important
    engine+box is easily fixed
either that or buy a modifed one and get it checked by an inpendant garage for condition --if the seller is not up for that ,then run away
-buying cheap and then trying to make it right is more expensive and as insurance is not a problem to you --that is the way to go
    then start tuning it

Yes i get your point but i've always wanted a saxo as my first car & i've got the money to do what ever i want to it really.
Just need a engine with a bit of humph to it, thinking of buying my mates 1.1 and wanting a 1.8 or 2.0 in it, i don't do slow

ok heres my input to your stupid ass thread

i though along your lines had 15k saved and had 1k a month disposeable income

bought a vts whilst learning cammed and mapped it and made it nice

    passed on march 3rd
may 17th it was written off

if you have power youll use it
and you have very little experience as you say your learning
    its a bad combination tbh

also and i speak from experience
unless your prepaired to pay through the nose or you are good with a welder ect forget the 1.8/2.0 idea

it can be done with various engines
    gti6/xsara
    rover turbo
    honda k20
    ect ect

BUT the car can be made just as quick on.the tu 1.6 for similar money
i spaffed about 6k at mine andbgot just shy of 190hp or you could spend less and turbo it for a similar power figure

So you haven't passed your test? Yet you reckon you don't do slow. . . how'd you get to that conclusion?

And you wanting to start with a 1.1 saxo even though you seem to have this ubundence of money would make me think BS. Because its such a stupid way to go. Just buy a VTS. Or simply a car with a even bigger engine as you're all about POOOOWWWAAAAAA
