hi there all, i had a mk2 vtr with the 3 plug ecu (98hp engine) but its now been written off so was looking at a replacement

tempted by a 90hp one atm bt will i feel the lack of power on it? and if this was decatted would it help to regain some of the difference?

as its the same insurance i dont wana 'lose out' on power but kinda do want this car.

    thanks in advance

You wont feel any difference. It's still a saxo and its still slow.

lol well i thought mine was pretty nippy tbh... i mean obv its not a ferrari or evo is it bt vtrs aint bad considerin im only 20.

ive had a long search around this forum and found they really aint much difference so its all gd

Slow is relative. Would just get a 90bhp if its clean, mk1s are better than mk2s anyway

yeh thats whsat im thinkin will be a mk2 2 single plug tho nt a mk1 - don't know why bt i think the mk2's are waaay nicer 2 look at than the mk1's personal opinion on that tho - pretty certain theres a lot of mk1 fans on here as well

Quite a rare one then to have a single plug with a mk2 facelift then. Be prepared for weird cross over year bits is all I'll say if you come to replace some parts, some mk1 some mk2!

In the real world you won't feel any meaningful difference.

The newer engine is supposedly easier on fuel though.

yeh i think its the fuel issue thats gona cause the most problem. sounds daft bt a 5-10% drop wud cause a lot of issues for me :/

and gandi699 yeh pretty much all mk2s were sold with the 3 plug ecu - i think the mk2 came in in 2000 and the 98hp engine came in in september 2001

Yeah, mines a mk1 front end with mk1 silvertop but mk2 struts and so on. Weird configurations that can catch you out. I dont think you'll notice the mpg difference myself providing things are in fine fettle. And then saying that if mpg if you goal, you are better off with a 1.5D saxo

Would you please speak English on the forums not "text". Sounds petty but you'll get less responses, and most people will ignore your posts when you talk like you're at school, not to mention not all of our contributors are English themselves and struggle to understand when the language is used correctly, let alone this.

    Thanks

sorry - the only abbreviation i used was atm instead of at the moment. other than that it seems to read okay to me... could of wrote it all out properly but i thought if people saw a wall of text they wouldn't respond. really don't see what i did wrong but oh well
