Fitted newman ph3's in my vts but car keeps cutting out on tick over. Timing is fine worked out if I pull the throttle cable and move the metal clip that adjusts it so its got more revs it ticks over fine? Does that mean I just need to adjust the throttle body some how? Hope that makes sence

#2Not really it needs mapping to suit the cams & other mods really. Some people have issues with idle, some don't.
When i was running 708's in my vts it only cut out once or twice in 6 months, obviously a very similar profile and people have the same issues with these.
I might be completely barking up the wrong tree here but everyone i know who's had a later car ( 3 plug ) seems to have idle issues with 708's or ph3's. I only know two people with them in earlier cars, not including mine (single plug) and they don't seem to have idle problems, definitely a lumpy idle, but at least it idles lol.
Not sure whether thats a coincidence or not to be honest! -
#3Most cams tend to make the car cut out without a map. Adjusting the throttle so its permantley open isn't a great idea.

#4Piss through fuel...
Get it mapped! -
#5As said, it needs mapping.
Your air/fuel ratio etc will be all over the place without a remap.
You'll probably do more damage than good if you keep driving it over a long term period like that, bite the bullet and get it remapped, you'll also get better power gains when it's mapped properly to the mods you've got. -
#6Think yous are right lads, looking in to geting it mapped now.
-
#7If you retard the exhaust cam a little you can cure the cutting out but you'll be down on power. Might make it liveable until you get it mapped tho.

#8for goodness-sake DONT use the throttle cable clip to open up the throttle plate.
The throttle plate is adjusted by a screw.
The ECU reads the throttle voltage, and it MUST be under 0.7volts at rest otherwise the stock ECU won't go into idle.
The ECU will target 14.7:1 AFR using the narrowband sensor at idle which the PH3 cams may struggle to do.
Hope some of that helps! -
#9Car is off the road at the min anyway so doesn't really matter. When I get it mapped will I need adjustable pullys? Or does the timing stay as normal?
-
#10I know that is not a fix was just to get the car to tick over as It would not even start propalyQuote:for goodness-sake DONT use the throttle cable clip to open up the throttle plate.

The car is off the road atm so just want it sorted befor I get it back out
Thanks -
#12Fitted myself mate timing is set to std
-
#13the car has adjustable cam pulleys as standard so you *already* have those
-
#15yeah they are really good in my opinion, because you have the standard marks you can set them to so you're always starting from bog standard1 user thanked this post:
