Hi my oil light has come on and its got enough oil in I have just fitted a mocal oil cooler kit? Any reasons to why its on? Baring in mind I have turbo'd it and fitted a mocal oil cooler. What I don't inderstand is it was fine with the turbo kit on before I fitted the oil cooler? Any help would be great cheers

#2Daft question but is the oil light on when the engine is started?
Don't mean to be funny but had it a few times people coming to work and saying the oil light is on when they only have the ignition is on.
Could be a buggered pressure sensor. or simply you could have no or low oil pressure.
What grade oil are you using? -
#3Yeh engine is on
I can't remember what grade oil it is? I am going to try the pressure switch as I have changed it to a stubby on so was away from manifold. I will try that.
-
#4Try that first mate they are only a couple of quid. Just remember not to run the car too much just in case you really don't have any pressure.
-
#5Changed the pressure switch today and oil light is still on. What could it be
-
#6Could it be I have put too much oil in?
-
#7Probably a daft question but have you actually checked your oil level? Also you said you don't know what grade oil you used? Unless a garage did it. Maybe try changing the oil and oil filter?
-
#8i'd be inclined to drain the oil, pop the sump off and have a look at the pickup and check if its blocked
-
#9I sorted it I rang cituning and I had the oil cooler pipe wrong way round how embarrassing
-
#10Is the light always on or it's on when the engine become hot? And try to remember what kind of oil you are using.
-
#11No it's all sorted now reason it was on because I had the oil pipe of the sandwich plate going the wrong way round the system silly mistake on fitting the oil cooler.
-
#12can you fit round the wrong way? surely it just runs round the oil cooler and back again.
last time my oil light was on was because my bottom end was knackered -
#13Yeh instead of sending oil the right way round the system it was sending it backwards so there wasn't going to be any pressure. Rang cituning they told me the problem and how to check and they were right.
-
#14How long did you run it for?
-
#15I Didnt run it I'm turbo'in it and its in my lock up I started it up when the kit was plumbed in and saw the light was on. And got it sorted straight away. Couldn't drive it struts were off. I just started it to make sure no oil leaks and the light was on and got it sorted out. Silly mistake of mine I removed it off a donor car and thort I remembered where the pipes went but I forgot by time I fitted. It's all sorted now just waiting for my battery cables for relocation for boot and Andy (luthor1) to fit ecu and map
