cambelt snapped :/

Basically i did a mk2 3 plug vtr to vts conversion last week.
I had it running sweet but didnt change the cambelt tesioner.
That broke After 50 miles of driving. and so my question is should i source a new head or just get an engine as i already have all yhe other bits

Also if i wer to get a new head would it need to be from a 3 plug car.
and if i got a new engine would that also need to be a 3 plug engine as i dont know if a 3 plug engine loom will work with an earlier single plug engine

i'd inspect the damage first and see if it was worth fixing the engine you have

Are all the heads the same tho or do they vary beween mk1 and mk2

    It would have bent valves.

To OP your best bet is to source another 3 plug head although i think they are the same as the MK1 (someone confirm?) but if you get a new head without stating the obvs you'll need a new head gasket etc.

The botterm end will be fine and I would keep it if it was a good runner no smoke etc..

ive converted a 3 plug engine to run single plug management

you need to swap all the sensors including the fuel injectors and then it should work tbh

only difference is the oil temp varies single plug its in the sump 3 plug its part of the level sensor the rest screw in fine and tbh leaving the sensor in the sump unplugged isnt an issue

with the engine out of the car a belt swap is a no brainer shame you didnt! :/
