Saxo engine conversion 1.1 to vts

  1. #1
Hi i am doing an engine conversion on my mk1 1.1 saxo to a 1.6 16v mk2 vts engine, i have been doing some reseach and i understand that you have to modify the top engine mount? Does anyone know of any companies that make a modified engine mount that will bolt straight on or of anyone that has done this conversion to help me out with any pictures or a guide or any advise to help me out, any help would be much appreciated,
    cheers ash.

you have been researching in the wrong place then! all you need is the vts top engine mount , single plug vts loom , vts engine , vts unlocked ecu , vts throttle cable , and a piece of long fuel pipe for the fuel return. if you car is 3 plug thenb 3 plug engine loom ecu , there is plenty of threads on here on what you need and how to do it use the search bar! ^^^

A vts engine mount dosent bolt straight onto the 1.1 chassis

Thats irrelevent though as you dont need a different mount you can use your 1.1 mount

so i can use the 1.1 mount, but surely that isnt strong enough to handle the engine tilt etc, as they would use it on all the cars ?

Yes you CAN use it. Ideally you would put the vtr/s mount in but like i say it dosent bolt in anyway you need to cut the chassis mount from the sport model and weld that onto your chassis.

Its obviously weaker than the sport model mounts however mine did around 20,000 miles at standard power and a further 20,000 with 150hp + it gets driven quite hard quite often and the mount is still solid.

I will add that i have the chassis mount at home though and i am planning on welding it in when the engine comes out at some point if i ever get time to work on my car!
