corsa b throwing eml up whilst driving

  1. #1
Okay this is not a saxo thread so thought its best to stick it in gen chat.

My friend has a corsa b its an s reg 1.0, and basically he will be driving along and when it gets to around 80mph it throws the eml light up and also does it whilst driving up steep hills.

I've changed the whole fuel pump along with the regulator and he says its better to drive but still has the eml problem

Any help would be great thanks

Actually, I'd like to know this as the girlfriends car does exactly the same!

Fuck off before someone posts about it being a Saxo forum!

    It's a Corsa - there's your problem. You're welcome

Seriously though, get the car plugged in - it could be a backlog of codes causing the EML to come on - I had this problem with my 106 and the mechanic said the codes may never have been deleted. Haven't heard anything from the EML since, so it might be worth a go.

What griff said, for the sake of £20-30 to get it plugged into the machine, its worth it to find out exactly what it is..

My EML was one for a failed lambda.. From how the car ran, id have never of thought it was that before getting it stuck on diagnostics

Haha cheers he has had it plugged in and all that comes up is the o2 sensor wwhich has also been replaced.

He took me out in it today and well its horrible, one minute it drives fine the next it splutters and judders like hell when the light comes up.

When you first start the car the light isn't on just when your going up hills it flicks itself on

Sounds like fueling, pressure regulator maybe, on other hand scrap it.
  7. #7
Did you replace the sensor with a used or new part?
  8. #8
    I'd say fuel issue.

When you say it was the sensor what was the sensor saying.

It will flag up the lambder sensor if there is an air leak or anything else not right to do with the air/fuel system.

The code related to the o2 sensor I believe, he replaced it with a used part (ithink) but looks fairly new, the fuel pump along with a regulator have also been replaced with good used parts.

It has me baffled, but along with researching on google there is loads of people who have made threads about the same problems with no answers

My Mrs Corsa did the same, it was the Air Sensor.

    this happened on my c..
soon found out i killed the ECU
corsa's are terrible and have no clue why they are so common

On the Corsa C you can do the 'pedal test' basically you fully press on the brake pedal and throttle and flick the key to the second click (So the dash lights up all pretty) and while keeping the pedals pressed the EML light flashes, you count the flashes and it relates to a code, it will give you the faults in order of what was listed on the ECU, google 'Corsa pedal test' not sure if the Corsa B will do it, but this saved me fortunes on my CorsaC!

Just been on google an the pedal test does not work on the carsa b, but the is a test called the paperclip test where you bridge 2 of the ports on the 10 pin plug inside the car then turn the ignition to the 2nd click and see how many times the light flashes and you then relate them to fault codes

Going to try it now I think

That's a problem with you air flow meter, they hardly ever bring up air flow meter codes. Change it and it'll be spot on

Is the inside the front bumper ?

Dad had an Corsa B (dont remember engine size, but some eco engine..)

It was the air flow meter, which sits before the tb and after the air filter.

When you drove uphill, or 'stressed' the engine, or above 70-80km/h eml light lit up..
Car had no power, sputtering etc..
