#2Not a problem at all dude. Just you won't feel that much power increasing as after the ECU get mapped.
Cheers! -
#3Dont get a map buy my mapped ecu
Well if your 3 plugger
225 posted mapped by wayne for TOAD many years ago and ean my car for a few k
Half the price of a map

#4Unmapped you will find it a bit empty and possibly struggling with idle. Surprisingly I found mine was overfuelling at idle. I found that getting clean air rather than from the rocker cover really helped (so I used a breather instead of that link pipe that runs from the rocker back to the air box manifold). It especially helps the stall coming down from high revs.
In the mid range of the revs the ecu responds to lambda, so although its not mapped, it does at least fuel 'ok', once you get over 5250 revs it gets lean where you just have to realise things will run hot, so try and keep away from that for long periods (such as a month).
Buying the second hand ECU sounds ideal. -
#6Ah bugger
Worth a punt lol -
#7Orite mate so basicly it will have a shit idle and try stay away from been over 5250 rpm?Quote:Unmapped you will find it a bit empty and possibly struggling with idle. #8Be alright.
I know people still on standard Map with cams for years. (J4 engine. ) -
#9Yeah it'll be fine, I too know people who run cams unmapped and their engines are fine.
-
#10You can drive it but I would not drive it hard or at high rpm. Personally I would not want to kill an engine by running lean.

#11Retard the exhaust cam.
-
#13retarding the exhaust cam means it opens later, which means it closes late, which means it's still open when the intake opens, which INCREASES overlap... confused?

#14Doh- could it be bought forwards slightly to avoid it?Quote:retarding the exhaust cam means it opens later, which means it closes late, which means it's still open when the intake opens, which INCREASES overlap... confused?

To the op, you are probably best waiting until its cammed rather than making 2 adjustments. -
#15On a otherwise standard car you time the cams on the standard marks.
