Important! : Mk1 manifold to decat mk2 vtr

  1. #1
Looking to go the poverty spec route for the time being to decat my MK2 VTR as Saxsport with a cat just sounds awful!

Ive heard u can get a MK1 Manifold and that will do the trick, my mate said he didnt have to relocate his oil filter on his 02' VTR, is this the case? or do i need to relocate it? is there a better guide on the site as the one on here im struggling to follow i cant work out where the new filter etc goes does it screw onto where u take the old filter off or elsewhere etc?

In short, can a MK1 CAT-FREE manifold fit onto my MK2 without fudging about with the filter?

It will clear you're filter no probs but I found the lambda sensor wouldn't go on cus or the oil filter
  3. #3
How did u get round that fella? apparently some have the lambda lower down so I'm in search for one of those but seem to be hard to come by

I put my standared one back on and I'm now sat in the garrage and about to fit a 4-2-1 sorry m sure that didnt help

Thats okay fella! Thanks for posting though, so looks like have to relocate the oil filter then!!

So the lambda hits against the oil filter??

Mine was is the ways so much it just wouldn't fit. If you just want to decat a cheap way just smash the blindside out the cat

Im surprised you say the saxsport sounds bad, im really like the burble they make.

And the manifold will fit, its the same exhaust pattern. Im unsure about the oil filter arrangement though.

Maybe i used the wrong wording.. ot to its full potential shall we say? prefer the rasp over the deep tone it gives with the cat!

i took my saxsport off after putting a 4/2/1 on. I have a feeling my baffle may have gone as it was really really raspy and 'zingy' if thats the word.

The lamda WILL NOT clear the later oil filter you need to convert it
  11. #11
I know what you mean mate Saxsports tend to have the rasp factor to them, to me raap belongs on the 106/Saxs not the fartcan noise

What about drilling a hole and welding a nut further down the downpipe.. would that world??
  13. #13
You can buy lamda threads a nut wont work but yes you could

Bung the hole by the filter drill and weld lower down

or even cut out a square around the lambda nut and a square further down and weld them both up so the lambda will do the trick and the top part is blanked

Also is the manifokd on the mk1 and mk2 the same?? and the downpipes thats different? (one with cat ine without) if thats the case couldnt i just get a mk1 downpipe?
  17. #17
Youll need the cast manifold the bolt pcd is much larger on the cat item
  18. #18
Ok thanks so it would work if i moved the lambda sensor? where do you move it to? lower down or what?

As i can get a MK1 Manifold + Downpipe for £12 and really cant be arsed with changing the filter setup and manifold every time i have MOT (July)
  19. #19
Just put an under car cat on for mot

Does that work without the 2nd lamda etc? just bolt on? and woukd it work if i moved the lamda away from the pil filter?
