Just bought some cat cams 743 anyone know how much bhp I should get from these including a chip and map ?
Rough power gain

#1
-
#2Seen some get into 160s somewhere and a load in high 150s
-
#3+25% bhp
-
#4Don't chip, just get a decent remap!
-
#5Chip is with the map though
-
#7I went to a place called austec near me, said that's what I get in price
-
#8I woldnt use them then......
A chip & a map are completly different things. both CAN be used but never used together.
You wont realisticly make 160hp with just 743's and a map -
#9Anyone else got any idea? Have got a bmc and straight through exhaust system
-
#10140-150 depending on how good the map is, and cam timing set. But it not about the overall more power you have, it the better curves and torque curves,
-
#11ANYWHERE between 125 and 150HP realistically at the fly.
Every car is an individual case.
"How much power will I get from cams?" is a very vague question, nobody feckin knows!!!!!!
I mean, it's taken you 2 weeks to think about it so far? What are you hoping for? for someone to tell you a huge power output because that's definitely not going to happen and you'll be disappointed. These cars are getting old.
160HP upwards is getting into ITB + Cams territory there, so I find that hard to believe.

#12Depends on mileage and health of the engine tbh and also which exhaust system you have, if you have some cheapo eBay bodge job exhaust it will restrict it more than say a supersprint or piper system, but on average with a decent map it will probably make 145 ish bhp

#13They could be used together. Depends on the ECU. If the ECU has a ROM chip and doesn't have an EPROM chip, you'd need to remove the original chip from the board and replace to be able to reprogram or re-map the ECU. This is where's the term 'chipping' came from.

#14Yea but thats not the case with and of the saxo/106 ECU's they are all mapable from standard without replacing hardware.
OP to prove what RR you choose has an effect on power heres my spec and the power ive made over 3 roads:
Catcam 743's
Port & polished TB
Standard ECU re-map
Raceland 4-2-1
Super sprint race centre pipe
Power ive made
151hp
146hp

#16Hi all just a quick question.
I've got a mk2 vtr 2001 with 61, 000 on the clock and I've done the following
Induction kit k & n 57i gen 2
Cat cams
Supersprint exhaust
Super sprint 4-2-1 mani
My question is what would be the advantage of putting a vts/ gear box in..?
Also a rough bhp after I get it remapped which I've book for next week.?
I no noone can give me a exact number but just roughly I.e 110-120 that sorta thing,
Any feedback would be appriecated thanks jez -
#17VTS has closer gears than a VTR so acceleration is improved.
If you read this thread, you could gain anywhere between 0 and 30HP or so.
Also, WHICH cat cam?! there's loads of different types. -
#18Cool, there the ones off of the kamracing site
