#3Text talk is frowned upon on the forum so in the future try to avoid using it.
BHP will all depend on what Mods you are thinking of putting on the car? -
#4Best mod - sell it and buy a proper engine sized one!
-
#7How many mods?
-
#8Best off getting a 1.4, put a s1 rallye inlet on, 4-2-1 manifold, sports exhaust, and air filter will improve performance and keep your tax, insurance down, I mean that's the reason you have a 1.1 in the first place if I'm not wrong?
-
#9with the right mods, will be good for 400bhp, no problem. And I'm not being sarcastic.
Mods include:
1.6 16v engine from vts.
extensive engine and headwork.
large turbo.
inlet and exhaust sorted (including 3" full system)
standalone ecu.
uprated gearbox/diff/shafts.
whole bunch of other stuff.
Budget around £8k - £10k, more if you're not doing any work yourself.
Then you'll have a 400bhp saxo that looks like a 1.1
Hope that helps

#10Lmfao, it's very true what Ross says, he started off with a 1.0 escapade, now has one of the fastest 106's in Europe :-P
-
#11why not go for the real deal 1.3 rallye engine?
-
#12Good point, but finding a half decent one for less than £1k is not gonna happen to be fair, iv owned an s1 and I've recently tried to get another one, a lot of nails about
-
#13Sorry miss read* why get for a 1.6 rallye engine?
-
#14just boost the 1.1 ffs - get it done.
-
#17Nah mate don't do any engine mods with a 1.1 With myn all i do i make it look nice and have not touch the engine! When it comes to exhaust i will just put a superspint on it so theres not gonna be any gains really.
With a 1.4 the most i would do is put a induction kit on it, i'm just waiting for my insurance to drop before i get a VTR. -
#18why? If done cheap it could be a lot of fun for not a lot of effort.Quote:Nah mate don't do any engine mods with a 1.1 With myn all i do i make it look nice and have not touch the engine! When it comes to exhaust i will just put a superspint on it so theres not gonna be any gains really.

#20Being "worth it" is subjective and your opinion!Quote:Because it's just a 1.1 and there would not be any decent gains, wouldnt it be worth just saving at least for a 1.4?
For a few hundred quid you could double the power or thereabouts, have fun building it, learn a little, then brag about how you've a boosted 1.1!
Not dissimilar to people seeing a saxo with £10,000 thrown at the engine and saying "should have bought a real car".
Where's the fun in that?
-
#21That's a fair but, so what would you do? Just curious hereQuote:Being "worth it" is subjective and your opinion!

#22I'd boost it to fuck personally. If it was just a project for fun, boost ta fuck! Welded manifold, gt17, dastek, then try and run a bar on standard internals until something lets go. Then just lob another engine in - cheap as duck so what does it matter?
-
#23Lol I like it, will go like fuck for a bit of fun, be a great sleeper
