Important! : Engine randomly cuts out

Right, this has happened three or four times now, twice on cold early mornings where ive been late for work, turned the car on, let it run for 2 then while reversing off the drive the revcounter will drop and then cut out.

Its happened twice while driving too when the engine is warm, most of the times when im approaching a roundabout or junction, i will drop the clutch dow to change gear and the revs will drop then when they hit around 850 the engine will sorta bog down and cut out.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Mine was doing the same.
I ended up replacing the map sensor, and then cleaning out the ICV with carb cleaner

I was having the exact same symptoms and it was a ruddy nightmare. The only thing I would say is that it'll run a bit rough whilst the carb cleaner gets sucked through and pushed out of the engine, so take it out for 10 miles or so of good driving to get it back in peak condition. Total cost to fix was a tenner for the map sensor and a fiver for carb cleaner.
