I know the difference isnt really felt on a standard-ish car unless being mapped with 99RON fuel etc but would in theory a higher octane fuel help towards pops and bangs? or is it no different? would make tunnel runs a little more fun!
99RON Fuel..

#2trieed it in my vts made no difference what so ever its alot of extra money for a few pops and bangs i have a 4-2-1 and a full "2 saxsport and it pops too much already fun on a blast out but horrible in town
-
#3If anything make my car bang less
-
#4Pretty pointless running 97/99 Ron fuel unless your car is either highly tuned, or the cars from another country that naturally uses a higher octane of fuel
Using 99 Ron will make next to no difference on a mildly tuned saxo -
#5Yeah ive got the 3'' Saxsport on mine, cant really hear it popping from the inside, i imagine it does, i remember when my corsa was stripped you could hear it popping all the time yet when it had the interior in couldnt hear nothing, i imagine its the same story for the saxo, I only usually wack in a 10r at a time and for an extra 60p a time if it makes some more pops and bangs then im all up for it.. such a child
-
#6You de-catted?
-
#7good luck getting a vtr popping on the over run
i get a few now and then, when my 4-1 manifold then straight to back box is really really hot if im lucky not on command like my other car, now thats fun can make people jump on motorway
higher octane fuel burns better you usually get pops and bangs out the back with un burnt fuel -
#8I use normal unleaded fuel. I can get pops and bangs going up and down in my VTS. Sometimes when changing up gears around 6.5k i'll get a pop though. Going down it rumbles with the odd bang
-
#9My VTS sounds like thunder in tunnels, I am genuinely not joking.
-
#10I am indeed! with a MK1 Standard mani, does the job!

Yeah VTR's dont seem to pop if running correctly! :/Quote:good luck getting a vtr popping on the over run

VTS' love to bang on upshift, if timed right they really do bang aswell! and yeah they crackle on downshift too, got a video on Facebook of my mate 16v with the exhaust which is now on my car, sounds completely different crackles like a goodun on downshift and bangs going back up, dunno if you can see this! Car belongs to samstar on here btwQuote:I use normal unleaded fuel. I can get pops and bangs going up and down in my VTS. Sometimes when changing up gears around 6.5k i'll get a pop though. 16v VTR, Supersprint mani, Saxsport 3'' in video (now has 2'' the 3'' is on my car)

#11pops on upshift you say?

(v old video!) - -
#12my VTR still pops to fuck even with a cat in the system
-
#13is the cat empty though?
-
#14Nope, just a 4-2-1 and no centre silencer
-
#15Not like that ross.

Just got a 421 cat no silencer and 2" tip. -
#16my vts pops and bangs, here is the video
although now she doesn't pop and bang as much as it isd to since changing gearbox to a 1.1 as previously i was using a vtr box! -
#17I think AlexBs car is the best pop/bang TU video ive seen.
-
#18Pretty much the same as me. When my lambda sensor was broken it sounded like a gun everytime i changed gear. It does it now only if everything is hot.
-
#19If you want pops and bangs, and it really means that much to you fit an adjustable fuel regulator and a fuel pressure guage

Don't over do it though
-
#20I just wee'd a bit, thats epic!Quote:

#21I read somewhere higher octane fuel can help with the pops bangs and crackles but is this not the case then?
-
#22High octane fuel burns slower.Quote:I read somewhere higher octane fuel can help with the pops bangs and crackles but is this not the case then?
In theory it's more likely to pop because it burns slower but it'll never happen. The key is getting it to run overly rich in order to pop and bang. this is why cars crackle and pop on over run, because the ignition briefly cuts and the injectors still inject fuel. the fuel ignites on the hot exhaust.
Or just stop being a chav

#23If anything it it was bad for my vtr.
On 95 I get around 100 miles to 20 quid
On tescos 99 I was getting 60 miles to 20 quid.
With the money you save by getting 95 buy a 4-1 mani. Mine poped like mad when I had mine on -
#24i find when i get the cheapest fuel from certain supermarket petrol stations it bangs and pops alot more on over run , and the higher octane fuels from better fuel stations doesnt make half as much noise and just costs more. (i only buy higher octane when i have to for obvious reasons a 1.4 saxo doesnt need it)
ive got supersprint manifold , supersprint decat center on to a 3" sportex back box if thats any help. -
#25Alot of companys e.g K-Tec do a Pop and Bang map for the Clio 182s so I'm guessing it means it runs stupidly rich on overrun like you say,Quote:High octane fuel burns slower.

Now now martin
Chavs a strong word
bit of fun through tunnels! would wind me up if it did it constantly! would much rather it be on demand rather than lifting off casually into any roundabout and its going BANGBANGBANGLOOKATMEBANGBANG! much rather it when giving it the beans when going through tunnels and the like
time and a place

#26My turbos mapped for it, she doesn't half gulp it though
lol.
Mine pops and burbles a lot! -
#27Wanna swap?

I bet she gulps! theyre bad enough as it is! haha.. see its wicked red aswell? best colour imo! -
#29what did yours make anderz? didnt realise it had been mapped
-
#31yours is vts yeah?
