#2For starters, Do you know what sort of condition your new engine is in?
-
#3hi, i had a mk1 that i tried it in & it run, kept engine scrapped mk1, so the engine seems ok, thanks
-
#4Fit new big end bearings.
-
#8Yeah they are straight forward to do.
-
#12tbh, without doing all the hard work, porting your head etc will all be wasted, better off fitting low comp pistons for the sake of what.. £400, which would be roughly the price of porting and flowing
Chuck in some new rod bearings, and ARP rod bolts, and have fun boosting it to the max without thinking its going to blow.
Only things you'll have to watch is for driveshafts and gearboxes getting blown to shreads
Might aswell make it last forever rather than it blowing if you aint got the time and money to keep replacing engines -
#13ok mate thanks ill look into that aswellQuote:tbh, without doing all the hard work, porting your head etc will all be wasted, better off fitting low comp pistons for the sake of what.. £400, which would be roughly the price of porting and flowing

unless a pic would help? -
#19D you need an oil cooler?
What will you use the car for -
#20if the oil cooler will help?, a cruiser & maybe a cheeky track day.
-
#21injectors, am i going to need to upgrade?, there are some with my kit(i get a pic to help identifying would be appreciated) thanks
-
#22As blackie says all depends on your budget/turbo spec/power aims, running low boost wont need massive upgrades, and as long as your spare engine is a half decent one shouldn't need a full on rebuild to do half decent power, main things to worry about are injectors, fuel pump, management and clutch. these are all must do jobs for running even low boost (5-6psi), but how far you go with regards to upgrading depends on the above things.
-
#23ill get pics up, be easier to identify, i want it to last for bit lol, once shes running i plan to get her mapped, sort of spec pump, clutch we looking at mate?, as my mrs said to me (end of the day its still a saxo) shes right so dont want to spend a fortune, i have another toy thats begging for upgrades too lol.

#24Can pick up a CG motorsports 4 paddle for under 200, used those on cars running well over 200bhp with no issues.
-
#25Actually scrap that, they've changed they're staging system, stage 2 is now only 156.
Or stage 3, 6 paddle is 246. -
#26ok mate keep eye out im just putting pics up, what one would you suggest?.
-
#27injectors that came with & my turbo

are they upgraded injectors? -
#28anyone know how the CG motorsports clucth compares to a Helix? as they seem to be much cheaper than the HelixQuote:Can pick up a CG motorsports 4 paddle for under 200, used those on cars running well over 200bhp with no issues.
-
#29Injectors look like the ones off an Xsans vrs if I'm right, how's your shaft of turbo? From pic there's wear on the fins, or many just my eyes
-
#30shaft seems to be ok, slight play but thats right?, your thinking there upgraded injectors mate?
-
#32The clutches aren't too bad, I got them to replate my helix, no issues
-
#33blackie, can you shed any light on what i have?, thanks
-
#34The injectors? You got the part number off them?
-
#35both, 280150712?
-
#36To the OP sorry if it seems like a thread hijack
I'm only looking around 200bhp, definently not more.Quote:Wont take as much as the helix, but more than enough for most low budget conversions upto around 220-240bhp.
How did you rate their service? And do you think that a paddle clutch from them (CG motorsports) is comparable to an equivalent Helix? Just from a price point of view there alot cheaper than Helix. -
#37its cool rather it got used lol, gives me info too
-
#38Injectors seem to be,
Saab yellows, 200cc/min @ 3 bar, I'd look for some bigger lol
Huggy they weren't bad, I sent them a messed up helix plate, they blasted it and re plated it, sent it back with a new bearing, took about 3/4 days from sending to receiving,
Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure they use a Sachs covers, with their own paddle plate, should be good for 240/250lbft id say
More then enough
-
#39http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saab-Bosch-2.../160988620111? better than originals shorly?, i wont be running that high?
-
#40Thanks Blackie, but tell me how harsh a drive is your car with the 4 paddle clutch? I live in a built up area in London, so I'm often in traffic. Ideally id like a clutch that feels as close to standard as possible but being able to take a bit of power. Interested in your thoughts?Quote:Injectors seem to be,

#41Mines unsprung so I can't compare, it's not nice to drive in traffic, but you don't really have much option if you want to go boost route, you need a clutch that'll take the torque
Not sure what you're asking silk? -
#42the injectors (you suggested where saab) would be better than standards & do you know which turbo i have, thanks
-
#43They'll not be high enough flow rate, will probably be close to maxed by the time your on boost, think closer to 300cc.Quote:the injectors (you suggested where saab) would be better than standards & do you know which turbo i have, thanks
We always use the longer bosch style ones ( astra gsi ect ), needs an adapter plate to space the inlet a little though.
Sure there's some other options like megane injectors iirc. -
#44That turbo's fucked btw.
-
#45ok thanks SeniorGT, ill have a look for some upgrades.
