VTS head on VTR block

I currently have an 8v and am thinking of going 16v as my tappets are stupidly loud, I've adjusted them but still no good and people tell I need a new camshaft.

Anyway can you put a 16v head on an 8v block?

    Cheers Mike

yes but you need to drill it for the extra cambelt guide pulley, change the pistons and rods and change the lower cambelt drive gear as the 16v belt is wider

Its far far easier to just drop the whole 16v unit in.

no need to drill for extra idler pulley (its already there and tapped)

remember i had a 8v forged block wanted to 16v head on it. only issue i had was j4 head has external oil drain/8v has no drain. using a jp4 is way to go with internal drain.

there is a thread on here somewhere if you want to search.

back to original post just 16v convert it with complete engine, ecu and loom

you must of been lucky stew, ive had about 7 or 8 8v blocks apart and only 1 had the drilling for the pulley
