good lambda sensor

  1. #1
Hi just got myself a new new 421 manifold for my car, couple of months back got myself a new cat converter, and did other things to help improve my overall emmisions as year after yer my car fails on it badly. The current lambda sits on the collor of the manifold and was fitted about a year ago by the garage who did my MOT. The sensor wire had to be extended to reach the plug but it looks like one peice not joint together.

So looking to get an new sensor when i install the new mani as my theory new exhaust pard old sensor dont go well. my saxo is a 1.1 phase 1 8v and is a W reg. Their is only one lambda sensor in the system. How much should i be spending for a good quality sensor? A sensor that wont fail within a year. And also any recommended places to buy them?

    Thanks

You want a bosch one mate and you are talking about £70-£90, Also you should never make the wires longer on them as it alters the resistance in the wire giving a incorrect reading to the ecu.

You won't need a new sensor if your current one is working fine.

I've got just the part you need. £25 posted fully working. Second hand

hmmmm interesting, i will have to find and show you a picture of what i mean but like i said was replaced about a year ago by my mechanic. Prior to the one he put in when fitting the origional 421 mani i took the lambda from the stock saxo downpipe and installed it to the 421 mani (back then not realising it was a problem) but remember haveing difficulty fitting the sensor as it was stretching.

Hense me thinking he must of ordered a replacment sensor but one that has a longer wire to the plug to prevent stretching or potentially snapping. I will look into the bosch sensors for best prices, best bet starting with euro car parts as i can find the right one.

Thanks mate but im funny like that. From experience, i know if i had a mani from new and a sensor from new if any issues arrise i know how long iv'e had it. What condition its in and also what the quality is like, plus im the only one driving the car so ill know its down to me is their is an issue not potentially the previous owner.

One is usually precat and the other Postcat, the green plug is the precat one, aka the one which is NEEDED or the car will go all topsy turvey, the second one doesnt have to be in the exhaust, as long as its plugged in your okay.. Mines actually cable tied in the engine bay to trick the ECU into thinking i still have a cat as it reads clean air instead of tree killing prius hating exhaust gasses, but thats probably why the green plugged one is silly money dude!

They have a larger carbon foot print than a range rover V8 the prius is one of the worst cars ever made and is not economical at all it causes more damage than most other production cars to the environment and the fucking nob head celebrities who bang on about them are cunts.

P.S that rant has nothing to do with you btw what so ever and i know that you may well think the same just have to make a point every time i see the word

P.S x2 Dan get a bosch your car only has 1 Lambda iirc its SPI

Nothing saying it wont pass the mot but if you extend the wires the ecu won't be getting a accurate reading.
