Which engine to drop?

  1. #1
I have a 2001 Furio and want to drop a bigger engine in it. But which would be better/easier? VTR or VTS?
Oh and is there any messing with electrics? Or is it simply engine out, new one in and hook it up?

Times like this I like to use the search function. I am pretty sure at some point in the history of sax-p this has been asked before.

I wouldn't advise you dropping the engine they are pretty heavy and will do some damage.

I did try that first but i didnt find anything which answered my questions.

And as to dropping the engine, i didnt mean literally. Thought that might have come across.

I would say buy a vtr/vts and would be much less hassle unless you want a challenge!!

Converserions are not to be underestimated, I would say do you research and get everything first before starting.

With my experience, the electrics and loom is always a problem especially if you buy it separately to the engine. so maybe look into buying a whole car thats been written off or is cheap and has all the parts you need. Then, just buy a decent engine knowing you have all the parts you will need.

Marcus is right - it's been covered probably once a week for the last 6-10 years. Really. It's probably one of the most frequently asked questions.

If you look in the FAQ's at the top of the forum we're in now (Saxo Engine/Performance) there's this link which should help too

    very simple

    vts engine is far better

no extra work involved fitting a vts or a 1.1 engine

as long as you buy the right engine/loom/ecu/top rad hose it will be plug in and play and could be done in a day

to be done on the cheap the furio gearbox/shafts/rad etc can be used
