Please help! VTR alternator setup on a VTS? How?

  1. #1
Does anyone have any photos of a VTR alternator setup on a VTS?

Or/ and a description of the parts involved.

I really want to use the VTR setup to sit my alternator away from my manifold.

It is the lower bracket I seem to be struggling with most, thanks.

Need both brackets with the tensioner

The 8v crank pulley and the 8v belt

    Easy

I have, what I'm led to believe, is a mk2 VTR setup but it doesn't fit. The top bracket lines up perfect.

They shouldnt need it, i run a vtr alt setup on my vts and all i needed to do was run a tap up the existing holes

Is there a guide? I would like to see the set up, particularly the lower bracket.

As said you'll need to tap the thread, but make sure its the VTR bracket and not any other 8v i was told any 8v set up would fit and it didnt. Must be the VTR set up.

    Not my car but

Yeah it has to be from a cast block, the alloy block engines run diff brackets I Think

Like I say, top (tensioner) bracket seems ok, this is the bottom one that is being troublesome..

    Look like alloy block mount

Prett sure that's not a cast block mount, on phone ATM so could be wrong, but I'm fair sure that's not the right mount

This is the top bracket that's ok, both brackets are (meant to be) off the same car, a 2002 mk2 VTR.

Have you tried running a tap down the holes as posted?

Top one looks right, bottom looks diff but can really tell as on phone, as posted though, the block won't be tapped for the vtr bracket in most cases

That would explain why it's a swine to fit. You haven't got the one I need do you?

I don't mate, my last one went to a forum member, but I've had lots of R engines, even from the very late 03/53plates

And never seen a lower that looked like that

It looks like it could fit though, trying to map it out in my head

Do th holes line up to any of the bosses on the Block?

Stamped '99' not the 2002 I was promised. Hmmm.

What year car would I get the lower bracket I need from?

As you can see mine is miles off, bolt holes don't line up. My block is staggered unlike the rear face of the bottom bracket which is flat.
