Saxo VTR 1.6 8V Exhaust Systems

  1. #1
Hello, I have a VTR 8V, Lowered 50mm all round, Cat-back exhaust with induction kit. It does sound nice dont get me wrong! But I just want something that sounds better, it has standard manifold and cat then a straight pipe to back box, the box has no baffles and the tip is 100mm.... How do i get it have all the bubbling and growl and bit of popping too? My friend told me to go to powerflow and they make a whole custom exhaust for about 200. Dunno what to do lol.... Want to keep it atleast kinda legal btw haha

    Use the search button

    And welcome to Saxp

powerflow can be awful. Can get a decent brand full system for not much more
  4. #4
As said above^^^^^^^^ powerflow can be an expensive waste of time and money in my experience. I had a black vtr a while ago with a full miltek exhaust and a phase 1 mani. That was a nice sound and really good quality too
  5. #5
got a piper 4-1 and full supersprint on the misses vtr sounds good

    Power flow are shit!

to be put bluntly, yes! just be sure that if u mix n match, they fit. (saxsport and magnex are two brands which make designs which only fit to their parts.) if u want less hassle, look for an exhaust sys which has OE fitment

"pooflow" as I've heard them called a few times.

You're not going to get any popping noises without removing the cat.

I keep trying to search for a millteck sound on a vtr on youpube but can't find any videos on it lol, my mate has a millteck manifold on his zetec s and I gotta say it sounds nice, think its full millteck but not sure

sport cat, overfueling or some other modification somewhere?

Rule of thumb with other cars with a performance exhaust tends to involve removal of cats for popping

Yes I agree its the usual but it can be done still with the cat in place. Its very mildly modified but the fueling should be roughly right with the injectors I use and FPR. I find its more down the exhaust you use and manifold setup personally

I'm waiting on my decat mani to show up so here's hopping I will have some popping too! Mine is overfueling slightly though, though I need a new precat lambda so that could solve it.

What type of system are you running?
  20. #20
Anything decat makes them shout more.

raceland (or similar unsure of brand) 4-2-1, cat supersprint non silenced centre, unsure of brand backbox with 2 inch slash cut tip. But I am running an s2 rallye engine and its injectors

  24. #24
I will have to make a quick video of my exhaust and see if you lot think it needs upgrading or anything, I cant work out if i wanna change it or not haha, Sounds nice but i think it could be better....
  25. #25
I had a 4 2 1 eBay manifold and a straight through pipe and a 3inch piper exhaust, and sounded sweet! Either a piper or super sprint! I've heard there pretty good for vtr! Has the growl and the pops and bangs

I had a decat manifold with a straight pipe and 3inch piper exhaust and sounded mint!! Either piper or super sprint!!!

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_YW69xfti7g&feature=plcp the sound quality is poor due to rubbish phone record I will re record with different phone today and see what you think
  28. #28
It's not fitted correctly or it has a hole somewhere in the exhaust doesn't sound right sounds like its blowing for the joins which also would lead to reduced sound
  29. #29
No if you actually read what I said its the phone making it sound rubbish lol, it sounds fine in person when I played it back on the phone it sounded terrible so uploaded it on laptop to see if it sounded better on the laptop but still sounded the same
  30. #30
i think he means that bubbling sort of noise at idle. should be a bit more subtle if u havent got an aftermarket mani. mine was blowing bad and im with boarer2004, i think you want to check th joints

Trust me I've had more systems then I can count, that is not fitted properly just visually it's sitting at the wrong angle so putting pressure on the centre pipe to back box join if you look at the back box it's sitting to far to the left and tilting down ... No matter how shit the phone quality there is some sort of loose fitting you can hear that your not getting all the pressure from the back box exhaust note it will take an hour to do properly just order all new exhaust gasket seals and brackets and some sort of exhaust paste for the olive joints and you will hear the difference
