Yep sounds like you're running on 3 cylinders, probably coil pack.

As far as MOT checks go, this is the same for any car and something that should really be checked every other month or so, not only MOT time.

Check all of the lights are functioning properly, make sure there are no warning lights on the dash, move into the engine bay and make sure the battery is secured down properly and everything is oil / coolant free. Make sure the brakes are functioning well. Get the car up to temperature and make sure the exhaust isn't smoking, check the underside of the car for rot, on a saxo make sure the rear wheels aren't doing this / \

my saxo struggled on its emissions, and i needed a new track rod end, just got an advisory for the rear axle so will change that before next mot is due, they have also included new stuff for the mot's now which is making it harder for older cars to pass.

Got laptop on it an it just came up with random misfire, anyway deleted it off checked coil pack runs fine now, maybe i pulled a bit of crap from bottom of fuel tank through it or something? i drove it too petrol station to fill it up with hardly anything in it.

Anyway passed the MOT today with no advisories got home and taxed it im on the road now!
