What gearbox?

Goin 16v soon what gearbox is best the current vtr box, Vts box.

I have known people run a diesel gearbox. What are the benefits from this? Just top speed or would I get better fuel economy on a long journey?

Personally I'd stick with the 16v box as its very useable in most situations. It's only the final drive that changes with the MA boxes. S1 Rallye is the shortest and on a standard rev limit you'd top out at 120mph. S1 XSI box is next shortest, then S2 Rallye, GTI and then the VTR box. GTi gives good acceleration without hitting the limiter in fifth. VTR is too long I think for a 16v.

Sorry, people run diesel as it'll drop the revs right down. So yes you'll get better fuel economy but won't have much acceleration.

Theres no benefits to running a diesel box on a naturally aspirated 8 or 16 valve to be frank with you unless its literally all you can get hold of. Its marginally 'worse' than a VTR box in terms of final drive and will just kill the drive ability of the car, which is why I guess you are doing the conversion

Got an xsi box at mine if that's any good to you ?

xsi boxes are rare, I'd have that myself if I had the wedge this month

I had to buy a full car to get it. But with me going turbo I don't really want to put it in to fuck it as its a mint box
