Plug differences

What are the temperatures specified for the NGK BKR6EK and the NGK BKR6EZ?
Been told my engine should use EKs but got Ezs in at the moment

    Engine and spec please?

Tu5j2 so the rallye s2 1600 unit with mild breathing mods. Cant find any info on the EK ones but they seem to be specified for 1.3 rallyes at least, current plugs are sooted up so I think they arent running hot enough so I want to try a set of EKs but I wont if its not worth the swap if you get what I mean

6 is the temp, so they're both the same.

EK and EZ refer to electrode type, if they're sooted up then you have a fuelling issue.

IIRC EK are twins, EZ singles.

Thats the only thing I'm a bit stuck as the its a bix of a mix and match when it comes to the injectors that are being used, i'm using the brown bosch ones but mk1 vtr management. I have altered the FPR to a 3 bar one though so the cc of these injectors should be very close to the ones fitted to the previous blue VTR ones.
the old injectors dont fit the rallye head so I think the only route is rallye management or a remap whichever works out cheaper

remap would be cheaper... cus youll need it mapped on management anyways... but iirc i went into this the other day for the bosch ones the smaller the number the colder they are...

    there you go

its the cost of the rallye s2 ecu loom and then the splicing compared to the remap I suppose. One day in the future though i'll sort it if I dont just bang in a 16v

then saying that, most aftermarket ecu's have the plug as well... just lop off the ecu end of yours as there is a wiring diagram for yours about, and an ecu pin out (that makes it easy) and just splice on the aftermarket one they give you the pin outs as well... or the predator (plug and play on the right loom)

wont be an aftermarket one though, it'll be an OEM pug fitment one bosch id imagine or marelli whichever got fitted to the s2 ralle. Still feasable?
  10. #10
should be, not 100% on the pug ecu's but for the effort go aftermarket...
  11. #11
so you have S2 rallye engine but not matching ecu?

I would get ecu and loom, its not hard as its the same shell, you should try a V6 into a 205 (the theory is exactly the same, give it power, few switched wires, and earth, it'll run)
  12. #12
Yeah thats right just the engine itself
Its doesnt bother doing the work myself, I just need the pin outs for each really which I know are hard to come by as people who build looms make good money from doing this which is fair play. ECU and loom I can source from somewhere but its proved hard so far. but thats the plan if I can source the correct S2 ecu and loom then splice them together with the vtr one if I need be which is what I was told I'd really need to do
  13. #13
you wont need the pinouts, if you have the original VTR loom just remove the plug/s, remove the rallye plugs and match the wires up.

that's IF they don't just plug in.

most wiring diagrams wont cover this aspect anyway.

I dont think the single plug R stff matches the rallye gear. You say match the wires up, where would I get this info on each one from? Understandably loom converters probably keep this close their chest
  15. #15
look at the wires, there's numbers on them also you can figure out which is which with a multimeter, set it on the buzz/beep position, find a connector you know its function, then work through the multiplug till you know which pin does what.

I can post up a few diagrams but the only ones I can get are engine only, they wont show the plug to the car itself.

If you would mate that'd be great just so I get the jist, won't be doing it yet as I simply can't find s2 gear
