IV just bought a 03 VTR with a supersprint 4-2-1 manifold. i want to put an original manifold back on it, will i need a manifold and a cat converter? does the 4-2-1 de-cat the exhaust system? im confsued as my last VTR was phase one and the cat converter was under the car and not in the manifold.
newbie advise.. exhaust system

#2If it's a MK2 then the cat is in the manifold.Quote:IV just bought a 03 VTR with a supersprint 4-2-1 manifold. i want to put an original manifold back on it, will i need a manifold and a cat converter? does the 4-2-1 de-cat the exhaust system? im confsued as my last VTR was phase one and the cat converter was under the car and not in the manifold.
You should be able to get the cat from a MK1 vtr and you can weld that underneath the car but that's entirely up to you.
If you don't want to do that you will have to keep swapping the Manifold over for the MOT1 user thanked this post: -
#3iv got a year til MOT, im the only reason i wanna change the manifold is because they got so dam hot and i dont wanna cook my engine! im not sure if i need to be concerned or not but id rather it was standard tbh

#4so to change it back ill need a new manifold, new cat, and new centre section? cos the current centre section is welded to 4-2-1..

#5The manifold is meant to get really hot.Quote:iv got a year til MOT, im the only reason i wanna change the manifold is because they got so dam hot and i dont wanna cook my engine! im not sure if i need to be concerned or not but id rather it was standard tbh
Nothing to worry about lol.
If your not happy with how hot it is get it heat wrapped and get a cold-air induction kit -
#6Manifolds get hot mate, Dont worry about it.. If you are worried get it heat wrapped.. Take it to a local garage for piece of mind - Just incase.
